An excellent performance from London Shootfighters producing 3 out of 3 at Intense fighting, Cambridge, UK…

Since London Shootfighters went full time in 2005 a new wealth of talented fighters has been created, three of whom were to make their debut at?

First up was Jack , fighting at welterweight. Jack moved from Poland to London with the sole purpose of joining London Shootfighters and becoming a top MMA fighter. Having been at the gym for several months Jack has improved in leaps and bounds and coaches Alexis and Paul felt that he’d trained hard enough and was ready to fight.

His opponent from the tough Tsunami gym came at looking to take jack down. Showing good wrestling defence Jack avoided the takedown, landing several strong knees in the process. Jack countered and reversed another takedown attempt, ending up on top working ground and pound until he secured a Kimura shoulder lock, tapping his opponent out a minute and half into the first round.

Next was Uvais Namiev, a young wrestler from Chechnya, who recently has come to train at London Shootfighters to learn MMA. After Uvais’s initial opponent pulled out he faced the chance to fight Alan Lee, a seasoned professional with over 18 fights to his name and a 5kg advantage in weight. A chance he relished and conquered receiving an unanimous judges’ decision after a tough and hard fought victory. Uvais showed excellent heart and determination securing the win after only two months training showcasing his wrestling and the ground and pound and submission skills he’d learnt only recently.

Tony Machado was the final fight at light-heavyweight. A regular (and loud) member of London Shootfighters since the new gym opened, Tony faced ?? another tough fighter from Tsunami gym. Having won the amateur MMA UK trials twice Tony was looking to make a big impression on the bigger stage. After an initial clash of kicks Tony secured a body lock which took his opponent to the ground. Following a short employment of ground and pound he obtained a key lock on his opponent’s arm forcing him to tap before the first minute of the fight was up.

Overall, an excellent performance from London Shootfighters and strong evidence of the difference the full time gym makes to its fighters. Look out for the New Blood.
